Workshops
Pillar 1: Power Of Thought
This workshop will explore the impact that our thoughts have on our actions and our successes and failures. Our thoughts are the seeds of our life. As they grow, they shape our perspective and dictate our experiences. One situation can be viewed in many different ways, and throughout our lives we will face numerous situations that have the power to alter our life’s course. This workshop will teach students how to harness the power of their thoughts. This workshop will also look at stress, which arises from our thoughts, and will teach students how to implement stress reduction techniques in their daily lives.
“What we do comes out of who we believe we are.”-Rob Bell
Pillar 2: Me, Myself & I
Everything starts and ends with us. Once we take responsibility for our successes and failures, we increase our ability to reach our full potential. This workshop will aid students in creating their own brands/identities while empowering students to be more accountable to themselves. As the famous sayings go,
“the world is yours” and “life is what you make it.”
Thus, the responsibility is on us to own our reality. This workshop will explore the power of choice that we all possess in addition to exploring the concepts of love and fear and their impacts on our decision-making process. The goal of this workshop is to empower students to build a better Me, Myself, and I.
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
Pillar 3: Communication 101
This workshop will examine the concept of communication, one of the most important skills for success in all areas of life. This workshop will allow each student to test how effective of a communicator they are and will teach them strategies on how to improve their communication. This workshop will focus on helping students articulate themselves while developing the mindset of an effective communicator. Furthermore, we will address the impacts of using social media and texting as a primary form of communication. The objective of this workshop is to improve students’ lives through the platform of communication and to equip them with the right tools to be effective communicators.
“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said.” -Peter Drucker
Pillar 4: Decision or Indecision
Quick! If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Question, think, answer. This is a process that we are all familiar with, and creates a different result for everybody. Every day we are faced with decisions and answers, some simple and some difficult, that we must live with. Although there is no way to always reach the right answer, we can develop skill sets to consistently achieve better outcomes. This workshop will engage students through activities that create strategies to aid them in becoming better decision-makers and problem-solvers.
“The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.” -Flora Whittemore
Pillar 5: Change & Norms
What are some of the major secrets behind the success of our greatest CEO’s, athletes, and philanthropists? Many would answer,
“their character traits,”
and rightfully so. We all possess different traits, both negative and positive. Every year countless companies spend millions, if not billions of dollars searching for people who are the
“right fit.”
Our character traits shape us – they either draw us closer to or pull us further away from people and opportunities. The goal of this workshop is to learn how to develop the right character traits when striving for excellence.
“It is not until you change your identity to match your life blueprint that you will understand why everything in the past never worked.” -Shannon L. Alder
Pillar 6: Success & Failure
Throughout our lives we will all face situations that will either make us or break us. Life is full of challenges. Each challenge tests who we are, and how we choose respond to challenges affects our life’s trajectory. We commonly hear about the strong connection between mental toughness and highly successful people, but we never hear about the steps necessary to achieve either one. This workshop will show students how to increase mental resilience and persistence in order to achieve greater overall success. This workshop will also touch on comfort levels, the power of perspective, and the importance of resource maximization.
“When we long for a life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.” -Peter Marshall
Pillar 7: flightunit
We all have a team around us. The question is, do we know who our teammates are? Are they helping us succeed, or weighing us down? In order to reach our full potential, we must understand the impact that other people can have on us. We all need people in our lives. Having the right people around us can mean the difference between excelling or looking back with regret. This workshop will introduce students to the highly effective “flightunit” philosophy and will help them establish a unit of people dedicated to their success.
“Teamwork is the secret that makes common people achieve uncommon results.”-Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha
